QuikTrip: Efficient and Modern Fuel Stops
At Roche, we specialize in constructing modern and efficient gas stations, as exemplified by our work on QuikTrip Store #4203 in Thornton, Colorado. Located near the intersection of Huron Street and Thornton Parkway, this 4,993-square-foot convenience store features five underground fuel tanks that supply eight pumps covered by a canopy.
QuikTrip stores are known for their signature kitchen layout, which takes up one-third of the store, allowing them to offer hot, ready-to-go food all day. Adjacent to the kitchen is 35 lineal feet of cooler space, providing ample room for refrigerated items.
In addition to the store construction, we handled the development of the nine-acre site, which included site demolition, off-site infrastructure and roadway work, traffic light installation, utilities, parking lot paving, landscaping, and fuel equipment installation. A standout feature of this project is the 18-foot LED QT monument sign, redesigned to advertise food, merchandise, local weather, and fuel prices.
Big D: Fueling Convenience
For the Big D project in the Highpointe Business Park, we delivered a cutting-edge fuel station and convenience store on a two-acre site. This 4,979-square-foot facility stands out not only for its functionality but also for its unique design touches, like the entrance tower and custom pine beetle kill cabinets, which lend a distinctive character to the space.
The store is constructed with a robust load-bearing spread footing foundation and steel frame/composite slab system, ensuring long-lasting durability. The exterior is clad in EIFS and masonry veneer, giving it a sleek, modern appearance.
The fuel center, equipped with ten pumps and sheltered by a canopy, was designed for maximum customer convenience. In addition to the building itself, we managed all aspects of the site development, including grading, utility installation, parking lot paving, site lighting, and stormwater systems, ensuring the project was delivered on time and met Big D’s high standards for efficiency and quality.
Kum & Go: Combining Fuel and Fresh Offerings
At Roche, we had the opportunity to work on the Kum & Go #0320 project, which involved the development of 1.75 acres of land, a 6,210-square-foot convenience store, and eight fuel pumps.
This particular project was a new prototype store for Kum & Go, featuring their signature red wing wall—a striking red wall that runs from the exterior through to the interior of the building. The store itself is a blend of a gas station, coffee shop, five-and-dime store, beer depot, and a pre-prepared food stop, designed to meet the diverse needs of modern consumers.
Our scope of work included developing key areas such as the mechanical/electrical room, restrooms, food prep area, walk-in freezers/coolers, café area, sales floor, and an inviting patio area. A unique challenge in this project was the site’s proximity to the underground water table, which required us to implement a dewatering system to install the underground fuel tanks.
Murphy Express: Efficient and Accessible Fuel Stops
The Murphy Express project in Parker, Colorado, presented an exciting opportunity for us to manage a unique, modular construction process. Located on a one-acre site, we oversaw the installation of a 2,433-square-foot convenience store and eight fuel pumps covered by a canopy.
Both the convenience store and canopy were prefabricated off-site by the owner and shipped to the job site in multiple modules. Our team ensured the proper installation of the prefabricated building, which features a brick and stone veneer, maintaining both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
In addition to the modular building installation, we handled all site development, including excavation, utilities, fuel system installation, concrete foundation work, and paving the parking lot with new curb/gutter and sidewalk connectors.
