Roche helped Union Colony Preparatory School reconfigure their secondary campus, which is home to the middle and high school students.
Roche completed this project using our design-build experience. Design-build is a contractual agreement where the contractor provides both design and construction services. This arrangement allows the owner to have a single point of contact from preconstruction to project close-out. Roche embraces the role of being the project leader, and as a design-build expert, we believe that open communication and teamwork are necessary to successfully complete these types of projects.
EducationThe original campus consisted of two buildings connected by an addition and a gymnasium/locker room building. Roche constructed a new 40,120-square-foot, two-story building on Union Colony’s playing field and demolished the existing 32,500-square-foot school. The only remaining portion of Union Colony’s original campus is the gymnasium/locker room building.
The new building is built on a load-bearing spread footing foundation system with a steel frame/braced joist building frame system. It houses a commons area with a warming kitchen, three science labs, two art rooms, band room, vocal music room, 17 classrooms, teacher work rooms, and administrative offices.
The sitework scope of work included overlot grading, utilities, parking lot paving, site lighting, landscaping, and storm water system.
