Windsor Charter Academy Middle School

The two-story facility was constructed on a load-bearing spread-footing foundation system after we over-excavated and reconditioned the sub base. The building frame system is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with insulated metal wall panels to meet the energy code.
Roche completed this project using our design-build experience. Design-build is a contractual agreement where the contractor provides both design and construction services. This arrangement allows the owner to have a single point of contact from preconstruction to project close-out. Roche embraces the role of being the project leader, and as a design-build expert, we believe that open communication and teamwork are necessary to successfully complete these types of projects.
EducationProject Description
The school includes a media center and technology lab, television studio, two college-equipped science laboratories, two art rooms, band and choir rooms, 14 classrooms, cafeteria and commons area, 400-seat gymnasium, nurse’s office, counseling offices, and an administrative suite. Each classroom is equipped with a 55” television monitor, a microphone/sound system for the teacher, and private offices for each faculty member. Construction included the most up-to-date security and communication systems, and windows in every classroom provide maximum natural lighting. Site development included overlot grading, utilities, parking lot paving, site lighting, landscaping, and a full-size soccer/football practice field.
Previously, Windsor Charter Academy served students from kindergarten up to the 8th grade. The new building allowed the school to increase enrollment and add high school grades.
