The scope of work for the Ruby S. Thomas Elementary School replacement project included abatement and demolition of the existing school followed by the construction of a new 99,866-square-foot campus.

Project Description

The campus consists of three separate buildings. The first building is a single-story structure that houses the administration and special programs in the center of the building with a multipurpose wing on the east side and the kindergarten wing on the west side. The second building is home is a two-story structure consisting of academic and classroom space for first grade through fifth. The center of this building has an open vestibule area on the lower level and a library/resource center above it on the second level. The third building is a central plant building that contains the school’s mechanical equipment.

Site development of the 7.8-acre lot included overlot grading, on-site and off-site utility improvements, parking lot paving, site lighting, landscaping, off-site improvements/road work, site retaining walls, storm water system, playing fields, playgrounds, and an outdoor stage with a covered shade structure.
