Located directly behind University Middle School, the Athletics and Flex Building for University Schools is constructed on a load-bearing spread footing foundation system with a wood frame and cast-in-place concrete building frame system. The masonry building matches the existing middle school and is finished with wood trusses and a green metal roof that coordinates with the adjacent press box at the football field and track.
Roche completed this project using our design-build experience. Design-build is a contractual agreement where the contractor provides both design and construction services. This arrangement allows the owner to have a single point of contact from preconstruction to project close-out. Roche embraces the role of being the project leader, and as a design-build expert, we believe that open communication and teamwork are necessary to successfully complete these types of projects.
EducationThe 6,305-square-foot building houses a 100’ x 40’ weight room for the athletics program, three restrooms, a coach’s office, and a storage room for football equipment. The building also has a 52’ x 52’ flex space that is primarily used for wrestling but can be used by the school for other functions as needed.
The scope of work included overlot grading, utilities, and landscaping.
