Sandra B. Abston Elementary consists of a single-story building that serves as an administrative/specialty classroom area and a two-story building that contains classrooms and a media center area. A second-story bridge connects the two wings, which creates an exterior breezeway below. There is also a third central plant building that houses cooling towers, boilers, and expansion tanks.
Site development included a courtyard with an outdoor stage, an additional concrete pedestal that serves as a smaller outdoor stage, four basketball courts, three tetherball posts, three play structures with protective play surfacing, a baseball backstop, landscaping, and a botanical garden.
