Here are some highlights of the projects Roche Constructors has worked on in the education construction sector.
Dr. Justina Ford Elementary School
Roche Constructors took on the Dr. Justina Ford Elementary School replacement construction project that started with the demolition of the existing Ames Elementary, which required the safe disposal of hazardous materials. Once Ames was demolished, Roche built the two-story Dr. Justina Ford Elementary, which at just under 100,000 square feet, is home to a new gymnasium with fixed bleachers, a full kitchen, media area, art area, 25 classrooms, and a special needs area.
Roche Constructors also developed the site, which included playing fields with play equipment, shad structures, seating areas, and dining furniture. The total cost of this project was $31.4 million and was finished in time for the school’s grand opening in August 2021. The project was recognized with an Associated Builders & Contractors 2021 National Excellence in Construction Eagle Award.
Kendrick Lakes Elementary School Replacement
Around the same time that Roche Constructors was working on the Dr. Justina Ford Elementary School project, they took on the Kendrick Lake Elementary School construction project. This project involved building a two-story building with complete site development, that includes traditional classrooms, office space, gymnasium, cafeteria, and an interactive learning courtyard. Once the school was built, Roche demolished the existing school and completed the site development. This project was completed in time for school to start in-person in August 2021.
Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering
Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering is home to pre-k through 8th grade. It includes 40 regular classrooms as well as ten flex areas/maker spaces, four science classrooms, two music classrooms, an art classroom, a media space, two sensory rooms, eight small group classrooms, a gymnasium, a stage, an administration area, and kitchen/cafeteria space.
The total cost of this project amounted to $54.2 million and was completed in time for school to start in the fall of 2022. Site development included over-lot grading, utilities, parking lot paving, site lighting, landscaping, site retaining walls, and stormwater systems. Also included in Roche’s scope of work was a city street to create access to the site, a turf football field with an acrylic surface track, a softball field, soccer fields, and tennis courts.
Elementary School Construction Projects in the Works
In addition to the completed projects Roche Constructors has under their belt, they are also in the pre-construction phase for the Laura Dearing Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roche Constructors has also recently been awarded the construction bid for the Shawsheen Elementary School in Greeley, Colorado, with a construction start of summer 2023.
