Bike Program
For the third year, Roche Constructors partnered with Madison Elementary School and Salida del Sol Academy in Greeley, Colorado, to continue an incentive program that provides bikes and helmets to students that reach academic and attendance goals. Each school determined their set of goals for the 2021-22 school year.
As part of the incentive program for Salida, K-5 students had to meet their growth goal in ELA, SLA, and math in two out of three categories, and middle school students had to meet their growth goal in both ELA and SLA. At Madison, the students were not allowed any unexcused absences and were required to have a doctor’s note for excused absences; have eight or fewer tardies; exhibit respect and kindness towards all classmates; display academic growth and achievement for current grade level; process 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s on daily work that transfers to each report card; and have four or fewer referrals and zero out-of-school suspensions.
At the Salida del Sol Academy ceremony on May 11th, 146 students earned bikes, and at the awards ceremony on May 17th at Madison Elementary, 36 students earned bikes. In addition to the bikes and helmets, the students received a drawstring backpack filled with bike safety information and a variety of surprises.
Bicycle recipients received a free bike and a helmet fitting from Weld County’s Bicycle Advocacy group, which sent volunteers to assist at Madison Elementary. We would also like to thank Walmart Supercenter #5051 in Greeley for their assistance with the bikes and helmets. Thank you to our community partners!
