Roche Constructors was awarded the $49.5 million contract to abate and demolish the existing Walter Bracken STEAM Academy and replace it with a new 82,890-square-foot elementary building.
The new school will be home to traditional classrooms, a multipurpose room with a platform for stage performances, full-service kitchen, library and media space, physical education room, music classroom, art room, early childhood classroom, pre-kindergarten classrooms, staff/administrative office space, and support rooms.
Improvements to the 7.3-acre site include upgrading and replacing the domestic water line on- and off-site, a perimeter retaining wall along the neighborhood property line, a courtyard, tortoise habitat, and synthetic turf play fields.
Work will start on May 21st, and completion is scheduled for May 2025.
