Chief Estimator

We are looking for a chief estimator to lead our estimating team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of estimating operations. If you are a forward thinker and a dynamic leader who has excellent personnel management skills, we want to talk to you!

 

Job Description:

  • Manages the estimating department and is responsible for all estimating functions
  • Provides mentorship and training of estimators
  • Directs, coordinates, and participates in the preparation of all estimates that are provided by the estimating department
  • Provides complete, accurate, and consistent bids to operations
  • Provides and reviews conceptual budgetary pricing
  • Responsible for complete, accurate, and timely bids
  • Distribute workload amongst estimating department team members
  • Notifies senior management of design-related problems, completeness of documents, and other potential risks
  • Attends and participates in pre-bid/post-bid meetings
  • Ensures all scope design gaps are filled
  • Develops and maintain relationships with clients
  • Oversees the development of the general conditions estimate and reviews with senior management
  • Manages and oversees the value engineering process
  • Reviews/confirms the accuracy of bid book prior to turnover to operations
  • Collaborates with business development/marketing in proposal presentations and in building client and architect/engineer and subcontractor relationships
  • Evaluates and analyzes subcontractor proposals

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Company leader
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management desired and a minimum of ten years estimating experience
  • Experience in project engineering and field supervision desired
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
  • Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements – should demonstrate an imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project
  • Excellent leadership, verbal, and written skills required
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Oasis estimating software
  • Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide an accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
  • Must be able to multitask and meet established deadlines
  • Must have experience in project RFP processes including participating in the interview processes
  • Extensive background in hard bid and negotiated work
  • Extensive experience as a preconstruction manager for design-build jobs
