Accountant I
Job Description:
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual payroll taxes
- Review and investigate any billing discrepancies
- Maintain project-related accounting records (i.e. contracts, leases, bank accounts, payroll)
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts
- Be knowledgeable of the operation of all office equipment, personal computers, and communication system
- Backup for occasional front desk coverage
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence
- File documents for CFO accurately and in a timely manner
- Complete payroll and HR-related tasks
- Process subcontractor payables as needed
- Proceed project-related accounts payable as needed
- Reconcile intercompany payables
- Maintain records for insurance terms
- Assists with annual tax return reporting
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent and 2 years accounting experience and/or training in related field; or equivalent combination of both education and experience
- Prior bookkeeping experience required
- Ability to communicate with fellow employees, outside customers, and vendors in a professional manner
- Good organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail
- Basic mathematical skills
- Efficient and timely administrative response
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions’ read and comprehend written materials
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize, and be flexible with daily work schedule
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
- Intermediate knowledge of Intuit QuickBooks, Word, Excel and Outlook software
- Maintain confidentiality is mandatory
- Ability to use common sense approach to handle situations
- Ability to maintain effectiveness in varying environments with varying tasks, responsibilities, and/or people
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and to effectively perform daily tasks
- Thorough knowledge and usage of grammar, punctuation, and overall business writing as they pertain to this position
